Urban Radiance offers Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacials. We deliver effective and beautifying skin rejuvenation! We are the premier med spa for Intense Pulsed Light treatment- IPL that Frederick has to offer. What is an

IPL Treatment?

IPL treatments are non-surgical procedures that use a broad-spectrum light to penetrate the skin on the deepest levels. This specialized treatment allows your body to produce new collagen and connective tissue, creating smooth and healthier skin. Removing the damaged tissue will leave you with more youthful looking skin. The treatment is extremely effective in treating freckles, sun spots, rosacea, age spots, acne, hyperpigmentation, and even broken blood vessels in the face. Unlike laser treatment that uses a single wavelength of light and is highly focused, IPL uses many wavelengths and is more scattered. IPL, however, penetrates down to the second layer of skin leaving the topmost layer completely untouched.

Why get an IPL Treatment?

IPL photofacials are designed to treat sun damage, age spots, rosacea, acne, and other undesirable skin conditions. The treatments are recommended in a series of 4 to 6 sessions. By dividing up the treatments, you will see gradual improvement with minimal risk. Once your IPL treatments are complete you will notice an immediate difference in the quality and appearance of your skin. The effects can last for years making these premium treatments among the most popular skin care services.

Benefits of an IPL Photofacial:

  • IPL is a non-invasive procedure.
  • The procedure requires minimal downtime.
  • Low risk of side effects.
  • It evens skin tone and texture.
  • Minimal discomfort during the procedure.
  • You can resume normal activities immediately after the treatment.

Let our Registered Nurse help you reverse signs of aging due to long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and sun damage. Call today to schedule your appointment or free consultation!

How Long will my IPL Treatment Last?

The effects can last for years, as long as you follow post-treatment guidelines, which makes IPL treatments among the most popular skin care services!

What to Expect in a Photofacial Treatment?

When you first come to Urban Radiance, our IPL treatment provider will first assess your skin and advise you on the best treatment for you. When going ahead with an IPL procedure you will be advised to avoid direct sunlight, chemical facial treatments, waxing, tanning, or any other facial procedures for two weeks prior to the treatment. On the day of the treatment, our (IPL) treatment provider will clean your face and apply a cool gel numbing agent to the areas being treated. Dark eyeglasses will be provided to protect your eyes from the light. By using an IPL wand on the skin surface, we will apply light pulses to the targeted area. The treatment is fairly painless. The whole procedure takes about 20 to 30 minutes. It usually takes more than one treatment to get the desired results and we will inform you on the next treatment depending on your individual case. We keep a gap of at least one month between treatments to let your skin heal completely each time.

IPL Post-Treatment Guidelines:

  • Avoid Dermal Fillers and Botox at least 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Do not use Retin-A, retinoids, or similar vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs or exfoliating products and bleaching creams.
  • Avoid picking or scratching the treated area.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 2 weeks.
  • You may experience some mild swelling, redness, and crusting after the treatment that can last up to 5 days.
